About Me
- Rebecca Robinson
- Louisiana, United States
- I am an elementary art teacher, teaching grades first through sixth at Calvary Academy in Louisiana- I have enjoyed art for as long as I can remember, but what I really enjoy most, is watching my students open their minds to create brilliant masterpieces that they don't believe they can do! I like expressing my thoughts, emotions, and dreams in a way that may help my students to do the same! I hope you enjoy our elementary portfolio, and if you are an art teacher, you can gain some ideas! Thanks for looking:) All of us have an art form, whether we realize it or not~ what is important in life, is trying find it and become complete with it. ~Rebecca Robinson

Hoot Owls! My 3rd through 6th graders were given a lesson on "detail" with the usage of lines. They LOVED working on these "detailed" owls for our fall assignment, and were shocked at their results! I tried to push them a bit, just to see their reaction at the end... and it was great! I started the lesson by letting the children use a template, and then explained to them the process of using lines with detail. The materials were as easy as metallic gel pens, metallic colored pencils, and metallic markers. This lesson took about three to four, forty minute classes. These cute owls were definitely a hoot to make!

I liked starting off the school year with a BANG! I introduced the well known artist VAN GOGH to my 2nd and 3rd graders! We learned about his sunflower paintings and the non-realistic approach that he used with his lines and perception (they liked that part). I decided to be brave and let the little fingers dig into OIL PASTELS! They loved the bright colors that these created, but had to be careful not to smudge them. I would recommend starting off with a vase template, so that the children do not get frustrated trying to get the vase "just right". This assignment took about four 40 min. class periods, but it was well worth it, as many of my parents got them matted and framed! These are examples from 2nd and 3rd graders...
